DIRECTOR - Felipe Garcia

Felipe Garcia (Director) is a seasoned musical theater director with over 20 years of experience in directing, choreography, design / set construction, and costuming. He has directed many mainstage musical productions, Latin X productions, and children’s theater. He has designed sets and costumes for the Lyric Opera Company and the Bravo Opera Company of South Texas. Working closely with CAF and Music Theater International (MTI), he directed El Despertar de la Primavera (Spring Awakening) at Laboratorio de Arte Variedades, Teatro Larva. Most recently, he directed the acclaimed musical El Agave Rojo, which toured extensively across Mexico and received praise for its compelling storytelling and innovative staging. He has served as the artistic director for prestigious organizations such as ProvaCouture Productions, the Conservatorio de Artes Finas (CAF) in Guadalajara, Mexico. He had the distinct honor of being Artist in Residence directing for the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de Guadalajara (OSIJUG). He served as the children’s musical theater director for the Harlingen Performing Arts Conservatory for many seasons. He has also served on multiple community theater boards, contributing his expertise to strengthen artistic initiatives.

Additionally, he served as theater director and speech, drama, and debate coach at Harlingen High School South for 15 years. He has judged numerous state and national tournaments across the United States for organizations such as the National Speech and Debate Association, the Tournament of Champions, the National Forensic League, and the University Interscholastic League.

In addition to his work in the performing arts, he has made significant contributions to arts education, including developing elementary curriculum in dance and theater at the state level for KIPP school systems. He holds a Master of Science in Reading Specialization and is currently pursuing a doctoral program in Educational Psychology with an emphasis on Bilingual/ESL Education.

Now based in Austin after many successful years in Guadalajara, he is excited to continue his artistic journey. Making his directorial debut in Georgetown, he brings a wealth of experience, creativity, and passion to the community, hoping to inspire audiences and artists alike.

CHOREOGRAPHER - Gene Tapia

Gene Tapia (Choreographer) is a choreographer and actor based out of Los Angeles. He graduated from the Theater of Arts Acting Academy in Hollywood. Coming from south Texas Gene always had dreams of becoming an entertainer. He grew up in the small town of Brownsville, Texas, where he strived for more than what the norm was. Coming from a place where boys don’t dance, it has meant the world to him. He kept his strength and followed his dreams. He has danced with Kesha, Usher, Vic Mensa, Ty Dolla $ign, and Doja Cat. He currently works on a series for Netflix and has so much more to accomplish. He is a mentor at the Boys and Girls Club of Los Angeles, helping troubled youth and bringing art to their programs. He has a passion for working with youth and is an active member of Big Brother Big Sisters of America.

MUSIC DIRECTOR - Xavier Jaramillo

Xavier Jaramillo (Music Director) Xavier, a native of the Rio Grande Valley, stands as a beacon of musical excellence and versatility. His journey of music began at the age of 10, when he embarked on formal music studies. This early passion and dedication led him to earn a Master of Music degree with an emphasis on Vocal Performance from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Jaramillo’s illustrious career includes several years of performing with South Texas Opera Companies. He has graced many theater stages, recitals, and concerts, honing his vocal and musical talents. His versatility and skill have earned him respect and admiration in the world of music. Among the roles that profoundly shaped him as a performer are Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana and Rodolfo in La Bohème, both of which hold a special place in his heart.

Beyond his performance career, Jaramillo has dedicated over 25 years to teaching as a voice teacher and vocal coach. His passion for the art of singing has taken him to engagements in Austria, Colombia, Egypt, England, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Puerto Rico, Spain, and across the United States. He has studied and collaborated with extraordinary voice teachers, vocal coaches, and conductors. His valuable experiences and unwavering dedication to teaching have made him a sought-after international private voice teacher, vocal coach, and master clinician.

In recent years, Jaramillo has expanded his repertoire to include writing and producing. His Spanish musical, El Agave Rojo Musical, created in collaboration with Felipe Garcia, has garnered significant acclaim in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. In 2019, El Agave Rojo Musical received a special invitation to attend the Daegu International Musical Festival (DIMF). Since its inception in 2007, DIMF has attracted over 1.4 million attendees to 219 musicals and is recognized as a premier art market for Korean and foreign musicals. Although the Covid-19 pandemic halted all performances, the DIMF committee has left the invitation open for future possibilities. The success of El Agave Rojo Musical has paved the way for an upcoming tour across Texas and the United States in 2026.

Xavier Jaramillo’s contributions to music, both on stage and behind the scenes, continue to inspire and entertain audiences internationally. As his journey unfolds, it is clear, Xavier Jaramillo is just getting started.
