BANDSTAND SINGERS

Note: The four Bandstand Singers provide all of the primary vocals in the show, including several vocally complex four-part group numbers; experience with holding your own in tight harmonies will be a big plus! They also help tell the small story lines throughout the show.

Ann – Range: F3 – A5 (opt. C6)
Several of Ann’s songs contain “scat singing” without specific prewritten notes. Familiarity with that style of singing will be very helpful. Ann’s songs run the gamut of Swing, Big Band, and Blues vocal styles with a vocal range to match. Ann and Everett develop a bit of a romance as the show progresses. **Has intimacy with Everett

Everett – Range: F2 -A4 (opt. C5)
Everett sings various Swing/Big Band styles, several of which utilize extensive “scat singing” (some without specific written notes) so familiarity with that style of singing will be very helpful. Everett and Ann develop a bit of a romance as the show progresses. **Has intimacy with Ann

Laura – Range: Ab3 – Bb5 (opt.C6)
Laura needs a legit lyric soprano voice as well as the ability to sing belty ballads and sultry blues, often with a comedic twist. Laura and JC develop into a couple as the show progresses.

JC – Range: G2 – A4
JC sings several “character” type songs in various vocal styles (even a bit of Country). Bonus points if you can play the ukulele, but it’s not required. JC and Laura develop into a couple as the show progresses.

Dancing Ensemble – Will also sing! Dancing ensemble members will be singing and dancing in the majority of the numbers. Dance styles may include jazz, tap, ballet, various styles of swing dancing, modern, and partner work.
