About the Show!

Based on the award-winning book The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith, this charming musical adventure will capture the imagination of audiences of all ages. There are two sides to every story, and when the Big, Bad Wolf takes the stand in Piggsylvania’s Trial of the Century, he finally gets his say. But whether he’ll get a fair trial in a corrupt piggy court is anyone’s guess. Will the pigs’ splashy puppet show make a puppet out of justice, or is the wolf’s catchy song and dance about a sneeze gone wrong all razzle-dazzle? Enter the jury box and decide the fate of Big ‘n’ Bad in this musical adaptation of the hit children’s book. The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs educates on the Criminal Justice system, honesty, gathering and processing evidence before making judgements, listening for understanding and preconceived ideas.

RUN TIME: Approximately 60 minutes

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for talented and diverse performers who will have a lot of fun bringing this educational musical to life for young audiences. We are seeking performers, ages 18 & up, of all ethnicities, gender identities, and abilities for all roles in this production.

The Georgetown Palace desires to be as inclusive as possible and we enthusiastically encourage gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender and nonbinary actors to submit to audition for any roles listed. We also seek all races, ethnicities and abilities. Our character descriptions on the following pages are gender binary and are written with he/him or she/her. While they are limited in their writing, we hope that anyone who identifies with any of the roles, will come out and audition.

Character Breakdown

A Cast of 5 ACTORS will play 12 CHARACTERS

Alexander T. Wolf (He/Him)

A soulful wolf with a rumpled suit and a toothy grin. Beneath the gruff image is a love for gourmet cooking and the fine arts. He’s a charmer (perhaps a con artist?), but still a carnivore to the core: tough, strong, and territorial.

Lillian Magill (She/Her)

The intrepid journalist, she is a fast-talking, inquisitive reporter pig. A tough sow in a hog’s world, seeker of truth and justice, and the audience’s best friend in their hunt for the full story.

The Honorable Prudence, Pig #1 (She/Her)

The presiding judge and a thoroughly biased, hard-as-nails, utterly corrupt cog in the wheel of what-passes-for-justice in Piggsylvania. Her chief weakness is a love for musical theatre.

Julia, Pig #2 (She/Her)

Julia is the prosecuting attorney. She is a dramatic, over-the-top firebrand of a lawyer pig; prone to speechifying. She will do anything to win a case, no matter how low or manipulative.

Maxwell, Rocky, Dr. Robert, Martha, Pig #3 (She/Her)

Maxwell is the witness for the prosecution and a clever pig. She is geeky and unassuming; a fancier of masonry and construction.

AUDITIONS:

Video-recorded auditions will be accepted until 8:00PM on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025.  Please record yourself performing a 1-2 minute monologue, as well as a 32-bar (or approximately 1 minute) cut from a song. The origin of the monologue and the song are not important – they do not necessarily need to be from a play or musical. We want to be able to assess your acting and singing, of course, but most importantly, we want to see and hear you being playful and fun, maybe even silly – whatever that means to you.

You can find the audition form HERE
Please sign up for the timeslot as that is when your videos are due – do not put yourself on the waitlist unless there is a problem.

When uploading to theaterforms there is only one place for your videos.

  • If using drive, please put both videos in one folder and put the folder’s link in the submission slot on the form.
  • If using unlisted youtube videos, please use the talent link and the audition submission link if needing to submit two separate videos.

CALLBACKS:

Callbacks will take place at the Doug Smith Performance Center (206 W. 2nd St.) on Friday, September 5th from 11am to 1pm.

If you would like to audition, but you are not available for callbacks on Friday, September 5th, please submit an audition video anyway and let us know that you cannot be there for callbacks. We would still like to consider you and may try to work something out.

If you are called back, you will be notified via email.

Callbacks will consist of singing predetermined cuts of songs from the show, cold readings of sides from the script, and a simple dance/movement assessment. When you are invited to callbacks, you will also be given access to the available callback materials.

We will ask everyone to arrive at 11am, and we will likely dismiss everyone at the same time, when the dance/movement assessment portion of the callback is complete.

REHEARSALS:

The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs will begin rehearsals on Monday, October 6th. Scripts/scores will be available for pick-up before the first rehearsal to those who are offered roles in our production.

Rehearsals are typically held Monday through Friday from 10:00am-2:00pm. Tech/Dress rehearsals are typically from 9:00am-3:00pm. (There is some flexibility in the exact times based on the role and the needs of the director and cast, but rehearsals do take place during daytime hours).

PERFORMANCES:

Performances are tentatively scheduled for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 10:00am and at 12:00pm, starting on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025. Cast members MUST be available for all performance dates and times. However, actual performances are confirmed based on reservations from schools for group field trips. Actual performance dates and times will be confirmed for the cast and crew two weeks prior.

There are also two Saturday performances with ticket sales open to the public on November 1st and 8th at 3pm.

CONFLICTS:

Due to the truncated rehearsal period, we will be looking for actors who can provide very few conflicts. That being said, we do at times cast understudies with guaranteed performances, so please do not let a performance conflict keep you from auditioning. Just please make sure to notate any and all conflicts that you are aware of on your conflict sheet when filling out your audition form. Adding all of your conflicts after casting could result in removal of the production.

CASTING:

Once casting is completed, emails will be sent to the actors that will be offered a role in the production. Once the full cast has accepted, everyone else who auditioned will be notified via email.

COMPENSATION:

**For this TYA show, performers in the cast will be paid a stipend of $200.00/week for each full week of the rehearsal and performance period (October 6th-November 8th). This stipend will be paid at the same amount for all performers regardless of the actual number of rehearsals and/or performances completed per week. The total stipend per actor is $1000 (5 weeks @ $200.00 per week).

Performers cast solely as understudies will be paid a stipend of $100.00/week for each full week of the rehearsal and performance period (October 6th-November 8th). The total stipend per actor is $500 (5 weeks @ $100.00 per week). If an understudy is required to perform 6 or more shows, the stipend will be adjusted accordingly.

In either case, payments are made bi-weekly on the schedule of the organization’s payroll. The intent is to help offset the cost of reduced availability for other work hours/job opportunities due to the scheduling commitments of daytime rehearsals and performances.**
