Synopsis:
Imagine a typical family weekend—now add a miraculous sighting, hordes of believers, and a whirlwind of media attention. What do you get? Absolute mayhem! Our Lady of the Tortilla, written by the award-winning playwright Luis Santeiro, tells the uproarious story of the Cruz family, who find themselves in the midst of chaos when a family member sees the face of the Holy Virgin in a tortilla. The play dives into cultural humor, family conflicts, and the beauty of love that remains steadfast even when everything else seems to spiral out of control. As the youngest son, Nelson, tries to navigate his relationship with his “gringo” girlfriend while hiding his family’s religious relics, his mother, Dahlia, is on a mission to win back her husband from his new girlfriend. But the real pandemonium begins when Dahlia’s sister, Dolores, sees the miraculous tortilla. Suddenly, their home is filled with reporters, believers, and a whole lot of chaos. Yet, amid the turmoil, the enduring love of family shines through, reminding us all that even in the most tumultuous times, family is the true miracle.
